Are you looking to refine your yoga practice? Join us for this 6-week workshop for brand new beginners as well as experienced students.
Each session will look at a different set of poses and their basic alignment, as well as exploring the philosophy behind the practice. The workshop will cover basic elements of a vinyasa class including: sun salutations, standing poses, warrior sequences, twists and backbends. All poses and sequences will be explored with a focus on mindfulness and clarity of intention. Students will also receive guidance on how to start a home practice and/or find appropriate classes around Boston to continue their yoga beyond the 6-week session.
Ryan Cunningham was introduced to yoga practice when a friend suggested that it might help his tendonitis; which had developed from years of playing woodwind instruments. Over the past few years Ryan has been fortunate enough to study with some truly inspiring teachers, including Barbara Benagh, Ginny Nadler, Simon Park, and Cyndi Lee. A year of more intense study led him to OM Yoga’s 200hr teacher training as taught by Sarah Trelease, Joe Miller, and Sandy Gross at Evolution Yoga in Cleveland, Ohio. OM yoga is a practice of flowing yoga asanas informed by precise attention to alignment and supported by the relaxed wakefulness of Buddhist mindfulness meditation. As a certified teacher, he strives to meld a strong physical practice, with precise alignment cues, middle path thinking, and unique music. He is currently a Masters student at New England Conservatory where he studies Jazz Composition.
