An 8-week program for people with cancer, starting March 3rd.

Tragedy is too powerful an opportunity not to learn from.

You have Cancer. With these words your life is changed forever.

But could this crisis become a catalyst toward the changes you long for in life?

- How can I find equanimity in the face of this threat?
- Could this experience actually empower me to heal my life?
- Can this crisis help me gain more peace, vitality and dignity?

If you can imagine asking these questions, this program is for you.

The Cancer, Dignity and Wisdom program goes beyond current "mind-body" approaches to help you identify and release lifelong psychological and physical barriers to wellness.

This breakthrough program, based on the F. Holland Day Center's Healing Retreats for Women with Cancer, combines the principles of Jungian Depth Psychology, Somatic Psychology and Expressive Arts Therapy in a unique and enjoyable way that has produced powerful results for hundreds of people.

Formal, published, academic research conducted over 6 years of retreats has shown significant improvements in mood, stress level, spiritual well-being and quality of life for individuals facing the challenge of cancer. We are pleased to now offer this powerful opportunity in an 8-week course.

In a supportive group setting, guided by experienced leaders, your journey will include:

- Group discussion and learning
- Reflective meditation and writing
- Art, music, imagery and dream work
- Body awareness, movement and expressive exercises

All aspects of the program are designed to help you transform the crisis of cancer into an opportunity for deep personal learning, growth and return to wholeness.

Program Leaders:
Matthew Budd MD is an internist, former professor at Harvard Medical School, pioneer in the field of Behavioral Medicine and author of the book "You Are What You Say". He has a private practice in Jungian Therapy in Cambridge, MA and specializes in working with people with cancer and other serious illness and life situations.

Alison Shaw RNP, LMT, CEH
is a nurse practitioner, innovator in the field of Mind-Body Medicine and developer of Re~Sourcing Therapy, a unique blend of Body-Centered Counseling, Integrative Bodywork and Energy Medicine. Over 25 years in private practice, currently in Arlington, MA, she works with people with physical, emotional and spiritual "dis-ease".

Monthly follow-up meetings will be scheduled at the conclusion of the program.

Want to lose weight? Gain energy? Learn to cook healthy food, or simply stay motivated to live a healthy, whole life?

You’re in the right place. I’ve created this club for you – it’s an opportunity to benefit from health counseling in a small group environment. Here’s what one of my current clients has to say about her experience:

“My favorite part of working with this group is listening to other women and knowing that I’m not alone in my challenges. It’s small enough to feel like a friendship. I am learning so much about healthy eating that I didn’t know before. I am cooking a new, healthy recipe each week, (sometimes two!) I am thinking about myself more, my breathing, getting my life in balance. Michelle is so positive, so upbeat. She is able to turn around all negatives and has us looking at things from a different perspective. She has a calming way about her that puts you at ease. She is very knowledgeable about food and is always able to answer our questions.”

It’s time to take a step beyond the computer screen, people. Reading is cool, but doing is even cooler. Join me in 2010 as a member of The Find Your Balance Club!

How does it work?
Our club meets twice per month on a conference call. You don’t have to drive anywhere or even brush your hair. Just dial in from any phone or Skype.

We’ll discuss topics ranging from nutrition to stress relief to relationships. We’ll pay special attention to our individual goals, and create a step-by-step plan of action to get everyone moving forward. You’ll receive the support of the group, as well as personal attention and coaching from a holistic health coach certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. (That’s me.)

Way cool. What else do I get?
You’ll stay connected to the group 24/7 through an online forum – share stories, ask for advice, and get support from a community of like minded people. You’ll also receive handouts and recipes each time we meet.

When are the meetings?
We’ll meet on alternating Wednesday nights at 8pm ET. Dates for January-March are: 1/13, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24, 3/10, 3/24

Spaces are limited to the first 10 people who sign up. So get a move on!

Fee: 3-month membership for just $255
6-month membership for only $390 $300 when you sign up by 12/31/09!
