Recipe

In this issue, we're going to interrupt our series on whole grains in order to tell you about a decadent winter treat: hot chocolate. OK, you probably already know about hot chocolate, the old fashioned way. But this version is delicious without the sugar and dairy that promotes health problems for so many of us.

Hot Chocolate

  • 1 cup almond or other nut milk
  • 2 teaspoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • pinch of powdered stevia

Mix the cocoa and stevia in a mug. Heat up a cup of the nut milk. You can use store-bought or homemade. (See recipe for homemade nut milk in the July Issue.) Add the milk and stir.

Note: For those of you who are put off by the aftertaste of stevia, the richness of the chocolate cuts out the aftertaste.
