Kundalini Yoga was first brought to the United States in 1969 by Yoga Bhajan of present-day Pakistan (formerly India). This practice involves rhythmic movements, hard-driving breathing techniques (such as the breath of fire) often accompanied by meditation and some chanting.
Many Kundalini yoga teachers wear white flowing clothes and turbans, adding to a more exotic mystical feel to this style of yoga. Possibly, in part, because of the rhythmic movements and rapid breathing exercises that are standard in Kundalini, people can experience a natural high after a Kundalini practice.
